WhatsApp is not available in Windows Phone Marketplace since Friday morning.

It’s unclear what the reason is for the disappearance. In the meantime, rumours are growing. Some websites are claiming that it’s because of a security leak and name the app ‘WhatsAppSniffer’. However, this ‘news’ is dated from May 1, 2012. WhatsApp has been aware of this issue since that moment, so it’s hard to believe that this is the reason of the abrupt disappearance.

WhatsApp responded to WPCentral.com noting that the disappearance has nothing to do with security, like we thought.

On Friday, WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton said in a comment issued to WhatsAppen.nl that they hope to submit a new version to the Marketplace as soon as possible. He couldn’t give any further details.
